Encore un livre qui m'a surprise! Déjà, pour être honnête, j'ai été déçue en le recevan. Je m'attendais à un livre sur la magie naturelle, un peu dans la veine de celui de Nigel Pennick (qui est excellent, d'ailleurs), et ce n'est absolument pas le cas! Donc, si vous cherchez un livre sur la "magie naturelle", je sais que celui-ci en porte le titre, mais il n'en est absolument pas un, et vous risqueriez comme moi d'être déçu. Je me demande d'ailleurs bien pourquoi l'auteure lui a donné ce titre.

Quand j'en ai commencé la lecture, la déception a continué : zut, c'est vraiment un livre pour débutants, un livre basique-de-chez-basique. Vous l'aurez compris en lisant le sommaire, Ellen Dugan survole une quantité incroyable de sujets mais ne les traite pas de manière approfondie. J'ai eu l'impression d'un livre un peu fourre-tout, très bordélique. Mais, je vous l'avoue... tout ce bordel m'a plu. Au fil des pages, je me suis prise à la lecture et j'avoue que j'ai difficilement pu m'en sortir! Ce qui est vraiment très chouette dans ce livre, ce sont toutes les expériences personnelles dont l'auteure nous fait le récit, avec énormément d'humour. Je dois vous avouer que j'ai beaucoup ri, et que ces récits m'ont fait réfléchir à ma propre situation. Point négatif : les rituels sont constitués presqu'uniquement d'invocations. Ce n'est pas la conception que j'ai de rituels, même si l'auteure explique (et c'est aussi ma vision des choses) que, selon elle et dans sa pratique personnelle, plus un rituel est simple, plus il est efficace.

En fait, plus j'y réfléchis, plus je me dis que ce qui me frappe avec ce bouquin c'est qu'on a l'impression d'avoir une discussion entre copines avec Ellen Dugan, qu'elle est juste en face de nous, qu'elle nous enseigne la sorcellerie et nous raconte des expériences personnelles bien rigolottes, et qu'on passe du bon temps.

Eh bien pour moi, un rituel ce n'est pas seulement trois ou quatre phrases à réciter ou à lire et une bougie ou un bâton d'encens à faire brûler. Dans ma vision des choses, qui n'est forcément pas la même que tout le monde, la magie nécessite une manipulation d'énergie par différents moyens. Il est vrai que l'incantation peut en être, mais je trouve qu'elle ne suffit pas. On n'est juste pas dans "Charmed" quoi :p
Et puis, il y a aussi une préparation, des données astronomiques à prendre en compte, des éléments naturels à observer, et des objets à utiliser (parfois) qui peuvent nous servir de support ou de soutien.
Et puis la magie, en plus d'être manipulation d'énergie, est selon moi également créativité et sans cette créativité, je vois un rituel comme privé de son essence. Et c'est en cela qu'un rituel est avant tout personnel, c'est que la créativité l'est également et ce qui suscite la mienne ne suscitera pas celle des autres.
